Boat Hole
If you see several military aircraft flying above your head every 5 to 10 minutes, chances are you’re near the Navel Air Station (NAS CC). The Boat Hole is right next to the landing strip for these trainer aircraft. The Navel Air Station is a Flight Training School for the Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Marines which primarily fly VT-27 Boomers, VT-28 Rangers, VT-31 and VT-35 . These four squadrons have a combined total strength of approximately 800 officer and enlisted personnel and more than 180 aircraft and simulators.
Wish I could say that these Boomer & Ranger fly byes were directly related to great catches but that would probably be a stretch. But you can catch some nice redfish and speckled trout in the boat hole year round by fishing the shorelines, drift fishing the shallows or just dropping an anchor at your favorite spot.
I heard that during the Air Show that fish are REALLY biting... If not, you have the best seat in the house watching the show.
Navigate to the boat hole by taking the Humble Channel with a shallow running boat. Most boats can plain through the 2-3 foot deep water. We have also included the weather & tide forecast links for your convenience.
